FAQ
How does the first meeting unfold?
The first meeting is used to understand what brings you to therapy without rushing the process. Your present difficulties, the relevant parts of your life history, and what you hope from psychotherapy are spoken about.
Does psychotherapy begin in the first meeting?
The first one to four meetings usually form an assessment phase. They are used to understand what brings you to therapy and your present needs, to listen to the relevant parts of your life history, to consider together whether psychodynamic psychotherapy is an appropriate frame, and to consider referral options when another form of support may be more appropriate. This process also gives you a chance to notice how you feel with the therapist and within the therapeutic setting. Regular psychotherapy begins after this phase, by mutual decision.
How long is a session?
Individual sessions last 40 to 45 minutes.
How often do sessions take place?
The work is usually planned as one session per week. Frequency and form are decided together during the assessment phase as part of the therapeutic frame.
In person or online?
Sessions take place at the practice in Caddebostan, Kadıköy, in person or online. The frame remains the same; the form is considered together depending on the person’s circumstances and the needs of the work.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults in individual psychotherapy.
Do you offer couples, family, or child and adolescent work?
I do not conduct couples, family, or child and adolescent work. Where a concern falls outside this scope, referral options can be considered together.
How is what is spoken about handled?
Sessions are conducted within professional ethical and confidentiality standards. The legal and ethical limits of confidentiality are explained during the initial meetings.
Does psychotherapy guarantee a particular outcome?
Psychodynamic psychotherapy does not promise rapid solutions or guaranteed outcomes. How a process unfolds depends on the person’s circumstances, the continuity of the work, and the nature of the therapeutic relationship.
What should I do in an emergency?
Psychotherapy is not an emergency service. In case of an acute crisis, please contact your nearest healthcare provider or local emergency support services.
